Petals, and Peacocks, and Pan

I bought MAC's Amplified Petals & Peacocks lipstick today from the Liberty London collection for the insane UK (plus tax) price of £12.50. That's nearly $20.

Anyway, you've probably already seen 5000x different pictures in other blogs and websites, but I'll just quickly skim through;

Outer Packaging

Very cute egg-like shape lipstick packaging

The birds look very... 'special.' In fact, they look like as if they should belong in a South Park animation, and it looks like they're saying 'OMG - You killed Kenny!'

Universal swatch-on the-arm

Flash, then no flash.

I really think it's either Photoshop, or camera dupe-ery, because all the other pictures I've seen of this lipstick were very bright, hot pink, with a twist of lilac. But my Petals & Peacocks lipstick looks like a very, muted berry-like colour with a tad more lavender than lilac.

And then it looked like this when I applied it on my lips

(Sorry for the bad skin... I came back home from a hard day of shopping, and all I wore today were sunscreen and a mattifier. I think that's my rosacea coming through?)

Now, I am a fan of bright, hot pink lippies; I have Trimming Talk, Girl About Town, Strayin - I'll stop there because it's getting tiring naming them all - but at first I felt that P & P wasn't all that special... it nearly looks like Trimming Talk on me. Although I have to say, the hue is on par with Strayin, but more blue and definitliy has a lilac undertone (but it's so subtle) and DEFINITLY no chunky glitter/shimmer in it...I was hoping the lilac would show through a bit more, or be just as bright as it looks on Temptalia's pictures - but alas...

And for the last picture - wow, I really do have some olive undertones.

How does it look? Can I pull off my love for bright pink lippies?

Conclusion

It's eh, but when I'm done with this lipstick I'mma re-use the packaging.

Packaging: 3.5/5. Lose the bird, or at least re-design it so it looks less like it's being 'surprise' humped.

Formula: MAC's Amplified formula - although it is Amplified, it feels a lot smoother than my other Amp. lipsticks. My other ones 'tug' slightly.. May be drying for some and may need lip balm underneath. Will stain lips (mine at least)
Coverage:Very full pigmentation.
Price: No comment.

Quality: 4/5.

Oh yeah, I hit pan today. First time I've ever hit pan on anything before (I didn't have makeup before, remember?) As I said before, this product apparantly had 6g... and I've only had this blush for approximately 3 months.... I didn't use it everyday either.
